Behavioral Health Nurse

March 2023- Present

Work with adults with intellectual disabilities and their families. Coordinate care planning with physicians, psychologists, behavioral health technicians, family members, and other nurses. Provides care and intervenes during a behavioral health emergency, including authorization of restraints. Administer any medication that is not given orally or requires measurement. Provides wound care and suction as needed. Preforms lab draws and inpatient test as needed. Monitors and report changes in mental status. 

Home Health Nurse

February 2022 to March 2023

Home Health nursing visits including wound care, medication teaching and planning, lab testing, catheter care, ostomy care, trach care, and hospitalization prevention. Attend care plan and wound care meetings, manage medical records, and report to physicians.

Agency/Travel Nursing

Worked as a travel nurse and accepted short term contracts. Worked in both full time and part time capacity over the years. Had to have the ability to adapt and accept assignments that were unfamiliar. Most know and execute policies and procedures for facilities that offer assignments.

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor

July 2020 to February 2022

Worked in a Rehab Unit for most of the pandemic. Stayed flexible and went through the transition when the unit I am assigned went from skilled care to a COVID unit, back to skilled care over 18 months. Worked in a Team Leader role and I acted as a Clinical Coordinator.

Worked at 6 different facilities, working up from a Charge Nurse to a House Supervisor by March 2017. Worked around the Roanoke area in multiple facilities including Raleigh Court H&R, Salem H&R, and Springtree H&R. Worked in a part time capacity while in leadership roles with other companies.

January 2016 to March 2017

Responsible for all nursing staff and patient care. Pre-admission assessments and vetting. ISP and UDA experience. Held care plan meetings and discussed changes with family members and physicians. Responsible for hiring new staff, making schedules, and performing corrective actions.

Home Health Nurse/Administrator

September 2014 to January 2016

Administrator for a local home health company. At peak, processed approx. 25 admissions a week. In charge of both office staff and clinical staff. Made schedules for up to 5 RNs to do daily visits from New Castle to Smith Mountain Lake. In charge of maintaining State compliance. Took part in hiring and disciplinary action for both clinical and office staff.

Gained experience in skilled nursing and ventilators. Worked on a vent weaning unit with a 24 hour RT. G-site care, trach care, ADL care, ostomy care, medication administration, wound care, and basic rehab. Was in varying role throughout the years. Dropped to part time status while at leadership roles with other companies. Company changed names 3 times in the last 24 months I was there.

Combat Medic

December 2008 to December 2014

Earned my EMT and became a Combat Medic in the US Army through the Virginia National Guard. Deployed to Iraq as Combat Medic in 2011 and received numerous awards for service and merit including CAB (Combat Action Badge). Received years of accumulative training not available to vast majority of civilians. Experiences in the military are unmatched by any other school or training I have received.
